Tomorrow’s Engineers Week (#TEWeek17) returns for the fifth year from 6-10 November 2017. We’ll be showing how engineers are on a mission to make the world a better place.
We’ve made it easier than ever for schools and students across the country to get involved in the Week.
Tomorrow's Engineers Week is designed to help address the fact that 186,000 people with engineering skills will be needed annually through to 2024.
We have teamed up with the Success at School online forum for #TEWeek17 so that students can to post their questions to engineers working for wide a range of employers, including the BBC, BT and Rolls-Royce. This is a great opportunity to directly ask engineers questions about their careers.
We're running two campaigns it will be easy to join in with in and out of the classroom:
We've got some great stories of engineers using their skills to solve some of the world's biggest issues. We’d love as many people as possible to join in with the campaign.
On a short mission:
We’ll be creating a series of films and social media content showcasing some inspirational engineers on a mission – share this content throughout #TEWeek17. Ask your students to create content based on the difference they would like to make to the world. Download our social media templates which you and your students can use to create your own content.
A mission in a lesson:
We have a whole range of hands-on activities and lesson plans available which look at the different ways engineering and engineers can change the world.
There are lots of resources available to help you run a student activity linked to the theme of #EngineerOnAMission. Here are some ideas:
A mission in a day:
Take inspiration from our heroes and create your own #EngineerOnAMission film - and remember to use the hashtag when you share it!
We've recently created a Tomorrow's Engineers guide to the amazing world of engineering careers. To countdown to the Week, we’re turning it into social media content, which you can help share.
In 15 minutes:
Share the content from the Tomorrow’s Engineers social media accounts – we’ll be posting this regularly right through to the end of #TEWeek17. Tell students, parents and colleagues about the Week and encourage them to get involved.
In an hour:
Use your favourite #FromIdeaToCareer content to show how young people can take their ideas, passions and dreams and turn them into engineering careers. Download our social media templates which you and your students can use to create your own content.
Download our powerpoint presentation which covers different engineering sectors and is a great way to introduce the different areas of engineering to a group of students.
In a lesson or assembly:
Invite an engineer to come and speak to your class or year group.
Make a social media noise at the start of Tomorrow's Engineers Week by signing up to our Thunderclap.
Thunderclap will automatically post a message from your Twitter and/ or Facebook account at 9am on the 6th November.
With everyone talking about #TEWeek17 at the same time, we'll trend on Twitter and Facebook and send the message even further.
For every account that signs up to send this message, the bigger the online reach of Tomorrow's Engineers Week 2017 will be.
