The Tomorrow’s Engineers programme, led by the engineering community, provides a platform for employers to grow the talent pipeline as part of a collective drive. Delivering national impact through local coordination, Tomorrow’s Engineers has directly reached over 300,000 young people in the past year.
The vision is to create a national network of employers working locally to reach 1m young people every year with effective careers interventions from STEM employers.
Tomorrow’s Engineers brings a strategic approach to schools engagement, building links with industry and schools. This results in greater coordination so employer outreach extends to where the need and potential impact are greatest.
We need more engineers. For that we need more young people to understand how what they learn at school is used in the real world. Giving young people the chance to talk directly to engineers and engage in hands-on activities that showcase and contextualise engineering is at the heart of the Tomorrow’s Engineers approach.
Tomorrow’s Engineers sees industry professionals bring alive classroom science and maths and showcase engineering careers. It comprises targeted outreach by engineering employers, engagements at regional events and an industry-funded programme of interventions, all underpinned by high quality careers resources.
Tomorrow’s Engineers works centrally with national employers with dedicated support across much of England. Employer Support Managers - local advisors - work with employers to help make their outreach more inclusive, more impactful and more tailored to local requirements. Tomorrow’s Engineers shares good practice, encourages peer to peer advice and guidance and respects the distinct needs and approaches of individual companies, institutions and schools.
